Job Summary:
Looking for an experienced Commercial Head/Manager to oversee end-to-end commercial operations, techno-commercial analysis, contract management, procurement strategy, tendering, vendor management, and commercial negotiations. The role focuses on cost optimization, procurement efficiency, contract finalization, stakeholder coordination, and compliance management. Candidates should have strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills with experience in large-scale procurement and contracts in EPC, infrastructure, utility, manufacturing, engineering, or power distribution sectors.
Key Responsibilities Areas (KRAs)
1. Commercial Negotiation & Vendor Management
- Lead high-value commercial negotiations with vendors, contractors, suppliers, and service providers. Drive cost optimization initiatives and achieve targeted commercial savings.
- Develop and maintain strategic vendor relationships for long-term business benefits. Handle vendor evaluation, empanelment, performance monitoring, and commercial governance.
- Manage negotiations related to pricing, payment terms, delivery timelines, warranties, penalties, and service agreements.
2. Techno-Commercial Analysis
- Conduct detailed techno-commercial evaluation of bids, tenders, and proposals. Analyze technical specifications, cost structures, commercial risks, and project feasibility.
- Prepare comparative statements, cost-benefit analysis, and recommendation reports. Coordinate with technical, finance, SCM, legal, and operations teams for bid finalization. Ensure alignment of technical requirements with commercial viability.
3. Tendering & Contract Management
- Lead end-to-end tendering and procurement processes for materials and services.
- Prepare, review, and finalize RFQs, RFPs, contracts, work orders, and purchase agreements. Ensure timely execution of procurement activities within defined TATs.
- Drive standardization of procurement documents, PQRs, contract clauses, and commercial policies.Monitor contract compliance, amendments, claims, disputes, and closure activities.
4. Procurement & Cost Optimization
- Manage procurement planning and execution for engineering materials, electrical equipment, civil works, IT services, manpower services, and project-related requirements.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and process improvements.
- Ensure optimum inventory planning and commercial utilization of resources.
- Support budgeting exercises, rate analysis, market benchmarking, and cost database management.
- Participate in strategic sourcing initiatives and annual rate contract finalization.
5. Commercial Operations & Process Excellence
- Develop and implement commercial SOPs, IMS processes, and governance frameworks.
- Drive digitization, MIS reporting, dashboards, and analytics for commercial monitoring.
- Support automation initiatives related to procurement, warranty management, and contract tracking.
- Ensure adherence to statutory, audit, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to commercial and procurement activities.
6. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Projects, SCM, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, and Management.
- Present commercial insights, negotiation strategies, and savings reports to leadership.
- Support business expansion initiatives through strategic commercial planning.
- Handle escalations and ensure resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
Qualifications & Skills
Btech or BE ( MBA preferred )
